People Don't Want To Stand
Audio Transcription
Long-term studies with sit/stand workstations show that people prefer to sit rather than stand to work
Several studies show that given a choice to sit or stand, there is a general reluctance to standing over the long-term:
60% of people in four different companies stood less than once a month; less than one in ten will adjust their table on a daily basis (Wilks 2006)
People with a sit/stand option, will only sit 5% less than those at a sitting desk (Straker 2013)
People with adjustable furniture need to be directed to stand up (Robertson 2012)
From the above studies, standing may not solve the problems of slumped seating, particularly in a population with any added orthopedic problems that prevent standing.
